The Neonatal Intensive care Unit is high specialized care, and the most advanced pediatric treatment, in a gentle nurturing environment and provides 24-hour service. It accepts 27 weeks gestation or less to tern infants requiring Level II and Level III specialized care. The NICU family provides a family-centered approach to care; encompassing the parents and sick infants as a single unit. Thus including the family in all decision making and kept well informed and have complete understanding of all patient care activities and procedures. Other disciplines are involved in the care of the sick neonate including medical staff, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, infection control and physical therapy.
