History
The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center was duly organized and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 19, 1999, as a domestic family corporation located at Km 78 McArthur Hi-way, Barangay Saguin, City of San Fernando, Pampanga, a place now booming with sprawling commercial establishments and subdivisions.
The hospital was founded in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center whose mission is to be of service to mankind in the field of medical services for the greater glory of God. The medical center is operating as a tertiary hospital with a 150-bed capacity equipped with the latest state-of-the-art medical instruments and facilities. The full operation started on July 16, 2001, with the only hospital of its kind with personalized medical services consistently being initiated by Engr. Adrian R. Briones, Chairman and Hospital Administrator, and Dr. Monet Bustos-Briones, President and Medical Director respectively.
Its mission is based on the humanitarian spirit of providing quality service through healthcare facilitation, education, and promotion. It envisions itself to be the best in the medical field by providing the collaborative delivery of its services with utmost compassion and care. It is committed in its mission “to fully satisfy our patients with all COMPASSION, COMPETENCE, and CHEERFULNESS united in service as a family” and the vision “to become a world-class hospital within the reach of everyone.”
Through the years, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center has been continuously improving its service and facilities. For this reason, it has received many citations, awards, and commendations from a private individuals who experienced the Carmel way of serving its patients, and from Philhealth as being consistently one of the best of medical services.
The medical center is operating as a tertiary hospital, DOH accredited level 3 of multispecialty training.
Department of Internal Medicine
Accredited Residency Training Program
The Department of Internal Medicine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center (OLMCMC) holds three-year full accreditation from the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) for its Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. The program currently has nine (9) residents who provide patient care through 24-hour duty assignments under the supervision of board-certified internists and subspecialists who are diplomates and fellows of the PCP.
The program provides progressive clinical training, with first-year residents assigned primarily to the wards, second-year residents to the emergency room, and third-year residents to the intensive care unit. Residents participate in teaching rounds with specialists from various Internal Medicine subspecialties, strengthening their clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills, and patient management across different levels of care.
Academic activities include monthly case management presentations and lectures led by a multisubspecialty Training Core. Residents also attend subspecialty conferences throughout the year, broadening their knowledge and keeping them informed of advances in evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Eden B. Castillo served as the first Chair of the OLMCMC Department of Internal Medicine and recruited board-certified internists to join its medical staff. In 2021, Dr. Edgardo Tiglao Jr. assumed the chairmanship, supported by Training Officer Dr. Marc Angelo Hizon, the Training Core Committee, and the section heads. Together, they continue to guide the program in developing competent, compassionate, and well-rounded internists.

Our Journey: History & Milestones
The journey of our department is one of passion, dedication, and continuous growth in medical education. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program operates under Provisional Accreditation by the Philippine Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, beginning our journey of welcoming and training our first residents in 2023. Our program is currently home to 4 dedicated residents in training, spanning across year levels I to III.
